People with Disabilities
We want to help disabled people at work and are an accredited user of the “Positive About Disabled People” symbol. To achieve this we have made five specific promises:
A guaranteed job interview. To interview all applicants with a disability who meet the minimum criteria for the job vacancy and consider them on their abilities.
Consulting employees with a disability. To ensure there is a mechanism in place to discuss at any time, but at least once a year, what can be done to make sure disabled employees can develop and use their abilities.
Retaining people who become disabled. To make every effort when employees become disabled to make sure they stay in employment.
Developing awareness. To take action to ensure that all employees develop the appropriate level of disability awareness needed to make our commitments work.
Reviewing progress and keeping people informed. Each year we review the five commitments and what has been achieved, plan ways to improve on them, and let all employees know about progress and future plans.
We work closely with the Jobcentre Plus and Access to Work to support any employees gain or remain in employment.
