In conjunction with our joint venture partners, the Orders of St John Care Trust, the major diversification element of our growth activities is the development of new residential and nursing care facilities.
Our £100m care home programme began to reallocate County Council homes in Oxfordshire in 2001 and construction started on the ninth, at Bicester, in March 2010. Once this site is complete, we will have a total of 555 care beds, 80 extra care apartments, 28 staff accommodation units, and 67 day care places.
In Gloucestershire, we are about to start construction on our fourth new home and when this is complete we will have delivered 315 new residential care beds. We are now developing two new extra care schemes at Trowbridge and Bury St Edmunds.
Overall, bpha has completed eight new homes, with six currently being constructed and 11 new projects in the pipeline.
