Profiles of Board chairs

Stephen Hallett
Chair 
An experienced director with a strong track record in business across a range of sectors, Stephen has for the past 20 years operated at CEO and chairman level for a number of major plcs. Most recently, he was interim CEO at Hanover Housing Group for 15 months.

Stephen succeeded Roger Whitbread, who retired after six years as Chair, on 2 July 2007 following the annual general meeting.

John Norman
Vice-Chair
As a HR consultant, John Norman lends expertise in human resources. He is a member of the Audit Committee and chairs the Remuneration Committee and the Customer Services Committee. He is also a Board member of the Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire Care Partnerships.

Mike Bobbett
Mike is an experienced housing professional and is chair of the bpha Audit Committee.  Prior to entering the housing sector, Mike spent many years in investment banking in finance and corporate service roles that contribute to the valuable experience he is able to offer in financial and operational areas.

Jim Byrne
Jim is managing director of FSMD Ltd, a consultancy and training company which specialises in finance, treasury and credit.  Clients include The Housing Corporation, the National Housing Federation, most of the major UK banks and several large corporates.  Jim is chair of bpha’s Business Planning Committee which advises the Board on development planning, funding and treasury matters.
