Family Intervention Project

The Family Intervention Project (FIP) has been running since 2007. The service works in partnership with agencies to deliver intensive support to challenging families to tackle issues such as anti-social behaviour, domestic violence and drug and alcohol problems. It helps to prevent homelessness and to improve the community everyone lives in.

The families that work with the Family Intervention Officer are exhibiting anti-social behaviour and have other complex needs that can include:

  • Neighbourhood disputes
  • Intergenerational unemployment
  • Children under 18 years
  • Children at risk
  • Poor housing/overcrowding
  • Mental health issues
  • Low income or material deprivation
  • Financial difficulties
  • Substance/alcohol misuse

A family intervention contract is drawn up with the family and other involved agencies, this will clearly set out achievable targets and legal sanctions for the family if these are not met. Intensive family support is not a quick fix but working with the whole family can have a lasting and impact on the family, community and the function of housing management.

Our dedicated Family Intervention Officer works with families to empower them to overcome their problems and to sustain their tenancies. She has a wealth of experience and will work with the whole family to encourage change.

If you think you could benefit from this service, you can talk to a member of the anti-social behaviour team confidentially on 0330 100 0272.
