Our responsibilities

We will treat all information as strictly confidential during investigations although we may need to share information with other agencies to deal with the anti-social behaviour effectively, or where we think someone may be at risk if we do not share the information.

You can report a problem with anti-social behaviour at any time in the following ways:

Once you have reported an anti-social behaviour issue:

  • For minor cases we will acknowledge in writing within 3 days, and will investigate the issue within 7 days.
  • If the case is serious we will visit within 2 days.
  • If the matter is very serious, such as a hate crime or domestic violence, we will make contact within 24 hours.
  • If the matter is serious we will draw up with you an action plan with you to show the actions that you need to take, we need to take and if appropriate, our partner agencies need to take in order to resolve the problem.
  • We work on the premise that prevention is better than cure. By adopting a multi-agency approach in tackling anti-social behaviour, encouraging the use of our independent mediation service and early intervention, we successfully resolve the majority of anti-social behaviour complaints through non-legal means.

What we won’t do.

  • Investigate anonymous complaints.
  • Get involved with personal arguments.
  • Deal with day to day living noises.
  • Transfer you to alternative accommodation to resolve a complaint except in very exceptional circumstances.
  • Seek possession of the perpetrator’s property to resolve a complaint except in exceptional circumstances. We will always try to seek a resolution to anti-social behaviour that will enable all parties to stay in their own homes.
  • Deal with cases complaining about children’s ball games unless they are causing a serious nuisance such as verbal abuse or criminal damage.

We are not the police or the fire service. If the issue is serious then you must use them as the first point of contact. We can only deal with issues that are tenancy related.
