Usually, only people with a high level of housing
need can be housed in this way. bpha's allocations
policy (which is the Bedfordshire Homefinder Partnership’s
joint allocations scheme) explains how housing need is assessed
and how we award priority to applications. See below for
more information.
For a copy of the application form, please click
here.
Alternatively, you can collect a form from our
offices or phone us on 01234 791000 and we will
post one to you. You should complete the form and send it
or bring it to our office.
If you have additional medical
needs that are made worse by your current housing, you will need
to fill out a medical form too. Click
here to download
the medical form.
If you are a bpha tenant wanting
to transfer, you will need to complete the application form.
If you live outside Bedford borough, you will need to apply directly
to your own local authority. If you want to live in a bpha property,
you should mention this on your application form and the local
authority will take this into account when nominating you from
the housing register.
When we receive your form, we will first check
whether you are eligible to join the housing register. If you are eligible,
we will assess your housing needs and write to you within 14 days
to tell you your priority. We will also confirm the size
of property you could be offered.

Who is eligible?
Most people will be eligible to join the register, but you may not be eligible if:
- You have come to the UK from abroad and fall
into one of the categories of people we are not allowed to house. If
you are not sure if this applies to you, you can telephone our
Lettings Team for advice on (01234) 791000 or click
here for more information.
- You have previously been involved in anti-social
behaviour which means you were evicted from a tenancy, or would
have been likely to be evicted if the case had gone to court
You may also be eligible for the housing register, but have a low priority because:
- You are a homeowner, or have sold a home and received substantial
equity from the sale.
