Common questions

How long will I be in temporary accommodation?
This can vary depending on your individual circumstances

How long will it take me to be re-housed if the Council accept a duty towards me?
The council follows strict guidelines to make a decision about your housing needs. Because of these rules, the amount of time it takes to be re-housed will depend on what accommodation is available at the time.

Can I do anything to help the process?
Yes, you can.  Make sure you have all the documents the housing advice team has asked for when they are assessing your application.

Can I bid for a property when I am in temporary accommodation?
Yes, if your homeless application has been accepted and as long as you have submitted all the relevant documentation bpha has asked you to provide when you are joining the housing register.

How can I pay my rent?
You can pay your rent through a number of different ways all of which are listed online.

How do I pay my gas and electricity bills?
Most of our properties use a pre-paid card or key meter for gas an electricity bills.  These cards and keys can be recharged at any shop that displays the PointPoint logo.  Find a shop.
