Calling all budding actors, producers and filmmakers! bpha’s Bedford Foyer is inviting young people to produce a short film about real life in the City of London.
The film, a reversal of TV’s ‘The Secret Millionaire’, will be about a young adult from a hostel who goes undercover in the world of wheelers and dealers and discovers that things are not quite as they expected.
No previous experience is required and the project is open to anyone aged 19 years and over with experience of homelessness, unemployment, or life in a hostel. Mentoring and support is available from filmmaking and theatre professionals, and there are a number of roles available for performers, camera operators, film editors and sound engineers.
John Dare, Training and Referral Support Coordinator based at Bedford Foyer, said: “As well as learning new skills and improving their employment prospects, young people will be able to bring on their own unique experiences to this project and have the chance to reflect on what they’ve learned and how far they’ve come.
“Full support is on hand, along with assistance and advice in seeking additional training opportunities. The project is funded through a grant from Neighbourhoods and Learning in Deprived Communities (NLDC) and we are very grateful for their help. It’s a great opportunity for young people.”
The project is available now until the end of June 2011 and takes place at times convenient to the participants. For more information, contact Helen Murfitt on 01234 221270 or email helen.murfitt@bpha.org.uk.
