There was plenty of messy fun to be had at Orchard Park in Cambridge this Christmas when residents young and old were invited to turn jam jars into lanterns to use in a Christmas procession.
The procession saw residents light the way from Topper Street play area to Circus Drive. This was followed by a carol service at Orchard Park Primary School, along with mince pies and other refreshments.
Carly Meagher, the bpha Community Development Officer at Orchard Park said: “This event was about having fun and celebrating the start of Christmas with your friends and neighbours.
“The fun started with the lantern-making lessons, but anyone that couldn't be there for this was welcome to bring a torch instead for the procession.
“It’s great to see the community coming together this way and it was a very enjoyable evening. I can’t thank enough everyone who worked so hard to make this event possible, particularly members of Orchard Park community church.
Orchard Park is a new community in South Cambridgeshire. So far, 740 homes have been built with another 220 on the horizon.
