Heat your home for less  - 20/01/2012 

If you are on income support, you may be able to get money off your energy bills.

Under the Warm Home Discount Scheme (WHDS), the six main energy suppliers (British Gas, EDF Energy, E.On Energy, npower, Scottish Power and Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE)) are legally required to give those on a low income a £120 discount on their bills. Those who only receive the guarantee element of Pension Credit will automatically receive the discount and do not need to apply.

If you think you qualify for the discount, you will need to contact your energy supplier to apply for this with documentary evidence of the benefits you receive. You must apply before April 2012 to receive the discount for this year.
