No more jumble at Dumble
Residents of a Corby close enjoyed an early spring clean when
they ‘dumped the junk' in a community clean-up.
The event, at Dumble Close, was held on Saturday (Jan 27) by
housing association bpha, which owns and manages 119 homes in
the area.
bpha staff helped residents bring out unwanted items, including
fridges and old televisions, and load them onto a lorry and dustcart.
Within two hours a total of three tons of waste had been hauled
away.
Steve Parsons, bpha's housing officer for Dumble Close, said:
"Events such as this help everyone to get together and foster
a good sense of community spirit, as well as helping to keep the
area in good order.
"It was great to see so many residents turn out to take advantage
of the collection."
bpha supports residents in Dumble Close to hold a range of community
activities including the Cool and Funky Club for youngsters, which
meets on Mondays and Thursdays, and a coffee club for the over-55s
which meets every Wednesday.
Dumble Close resident Jessie Longdin said: "It was great to see
this kind of event take place here and the area looks much better
as a result. Hopefully we will see more of this kind of thing
over the coming months."
