Find out about extra care at open day
An affordable housing scheme providing extra care accommodation
for frail, older people is throwing open its doors for a community
open day.
Leeson Court, at Leeson Road, Towcester, will be open to visitors
between 4pm and 7pm on Friday, June 27.
Local councillors and other community representatives will also
be visiting the scheme earlier in the day.
Managed by affordable housing provider
bpha, the scheme provides 35 self-contained flats together
with communal facilities where residents can meet together
and socialise. Trained staff are on hand 24 hours a day to
support residents and also organise care services to meet residents’ individual
needs.
Visitors attending the open day will get the chance to take
a look at the facilities on offer, meet staff and residents and
enjoy tea and cake. The event aims to improve understanding of
the care available for older people in the area.
Jan Davis, assistant retirement services
manager at bpha, said: “Extra
care accommodation enables residents to maintain their independence
by having their own home, while also enjoying the peace of mind
of knowing that help is at hand.
“At the same time residents benefit
from an improved quality of life by living within an active
community.
“At Leeson Court our staff co-ordinate the care provided by a range of
agencies. This means that as residents’ needs change, the care provided
can adapt accordingly and there is no need for residents to face the upheaval
of moving to a care home or other accommodation.
“We are looking forward to meeting
visitors at the open day and explaining more about what extra
care accommodation has to offer.”
