Gas safety

At bpha we are committed to ensuring the safety of our residents, including gas safety. Our working processes and procedures help us deliver this. We have a comprehensive gas policy and procedures, under which we service all of the gas appliances and systems installed by us, as well as carry out gas safety checks on all gas boilers and back boilers already in properties.

The national Health & Safety Executive advises that appliances are checked once every year, so bpha has a rolling programme of maintenance which does just that. You will be contacted by our contractor to let you know they are in your area. If you've not been contacted yet, but believe an annual check is due, please contact bpha's maintenance administrator on 01234 221277 or the repairs freephone on 0800 581707.

Allowing bpha access to properties to service and check your gas appliances is vitally important. Without the annual gas safety check, we can't be sure that your safety is being ensured. Moreover, we are legally obliged to service appliances at intervals of no more than 12 months.

We endeavour to arrange appointments to suit residents as far as possible. We closely monitor "no access" cases and appropriate action is taken if required, for example difficult access issues are highlighted to housing management or repairs staff; court injunctions are obtained. In this way, we ensure that residents' safety comes first, but also, that we meet our obligations.

If residents have any queries about the safety of their appliances, please don't hesitate to contact us by using the freephone repairs line.
