The Warden will demonstrate the use of the alarm system to you
when you move into the scheme.
Each dwelling is linked by an alarm system to the Warden's office.
When the Warden is off duty or leaves the site for any reason,
your alarm is switched over to the Carelink Control Centre which
is operated 24 hours per day, seen days per week. A Mobile Warden
is on call at all times and will respond to any emergencies when
called by Carelink Control.
Your alarm system is activated by means of pull cords. When a
cord is pulled, a call is sent through to the Warden or Carelink
Control. You can speak to them through the speech box. There is
no need to go where the speech box is situated as the box will
pick up your voice from anywhere in your home.
This system is completely private and neither the Warden nor
the Control operators can hear anything that is said in your home
except when you have pulled the alarm cord. You have complete
privacy. If the Warden or Control operator calls you on the alarm
system you will hear a loud tone so you will know the line is
open.
Please leave your emergency pull cords hanging freely to the ground.
If they are in the way secure them to the wall with a hook and
this will avoid them being caught accidentally. If you do happen
to pull the cord by accident (or perhaps one of your visitors
does, e.g. grandchildren) please do not be embarrassed to admit
this. Just explain to the person answering the call, they will
not mind at all. If you do not respond they will think you have
some difficulty and might call out the Mobile Warden to respond.
