Choice-Based Lettings

As part of this commitment, we are trying out a new way of letting properties to tenants wanting one-bedroom accommodation to give them more choice about where they want to live.

The scheme - known as choice-based lettings - gives customers a greater say when picking their homes. The aim is to encourage people to stay in their new homes longer, creating more stable communities.

Those eligible for transfer will receive details of available properties. They can then state their interest in a particular property and place a bid - with the home generally going to the person who has been waiting on the list for the longest.

The pilot project will run for 12 months, and if it successful then it may be extended to other types of property.
