A strong financial performance sees us into 2020
Our latest financial statements are out now
Despite the economic uncertainty, a lot of change, and the initial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, we can look back on a year of investment and a lot of great achievements.
Not only that, but we can also look ahead in a very strong financial position, safe in the knowledge that we can continue to help and support you and the communities you live in. We can also continue to work to develop the way we deliver our services to you, as well as build even more desperately needed affordable homes.
A quick look at the last financial year
Looking after your homes
It is no easy task to keep 19,235 properties well maintained and happy places to live in, but this is at the heart of our mission and last year we spent £27m on repairs and improvements to your homes, a £1m increase on the previous year.
During the year we carried out 32,159 repairs (an increase of 1,868 from last year) and we replaced 314 bathrooms, 362 roofs, 305 kitchens and 722 boilers!
Help and support
We know that homes are not just made of bricks and mortar. They are also about feeling safe, stable and part of a community. Last year we continued to invest in the help, support and services that help underpin these things. This includes helping 50 residents avoid eviction, creating a new programme to tackle domestic abuse, managing 24-hour emergency support in over 1,500 schemes and providing free financial assistance to 1,157 residents. And much more besides!
Improving your experience
We have continued to invest in digital services in order to improve our customer service experience and to develop new ways for you to manage your tenancy, to contact us and to give us your views and opinions.
Building new homes
There is a desperate need for more affordable housing. Last year we were delighted to be able to build 651 new affordable homes, investing a further £79 million in our development programme that will keep us on track to achieve our ambitious five-year goal of 3,000 new homes by the year 2023.
