Corby resident wins award for ‘best kept’ garden

13 July, 2016

A resident from Dumble Close in Corby has been presented with an award for having the ‘best kept’ garden.

Albert Grooby, a tenant at bpha, was nominated for the award by a fellow neighbour.

Every year, bpha runs a competition to find the ‘best kept gardens’ amongst their 17,000 plus homes and to encourage more residents to enjoy their outside spaces.

Albert said: “As children we were encouraged to help our father in the garden from as early as 9 years of age. My father’s advice was ‘don’t be frightened, have a go’.

“By trying you gain confidence and knowledge, it’s exciting to try.”

George Parkinson, Head of Housing Management at bpha, said: “Mr Grooby has made big difference to his home by creating a wonderful garden he can enjoy with his family.

“We’re really pleased to recognise his hard work and we hope that other residents will be inspired to have a go in their gardens too.”
