bpha, care teams and caterers have organised a month of Christmas activities for its older residents to help ensure that social isolation is reduced over the festive period.

Advertised in the style of a Christmas advent calendar, many residents at our Extra Care schemes in Bedford can enjoy a different festive-themed activity every day in Deceber.

There is a wide variety of events to ensure there is something for everyone. Activities range from the traditional such as Christmas games, films and school children carol singing, to the more original including a magician, a beauty pamper afternoon and even a reggae duet night.

Julie Wittich, Director of Service Delivery at bpha, said: “It’s fantastic that bpha and its partner agencies can provide such a programme of activities for residents during the festive period as it really encourages a sense of community and allows residents to interact with staff.”

The events are organised by bpha’s Retirement Living Team, care teams onsite (Care Support, Dial House and Bedford Borough Council) and Golden Years, who provide the catering onsite at bpha’s Extra Care schemes, and run from 1 – 25 December 2017.

Gordon Colling House, Sir William Harpur House and Tavistock Court are Extra Care schemes owned and managed by bpha, providing independent living, with care provided on-site for residents over the age of 55.
