Kingswell Community Hub CafeCllr Ralley Rahman and bpha CEO Richard Hill, officially opened the new Kingswell Community Hub on Tuesday 19 September.

The Kingsbrook Children’s Centre on Canvin Way, off Oak Road includes a play hall for parents with children under five and a community hub café, as well as a newly refurbished playground.

Over the course of the morning, partners and residents enjoyed a series of activities including ‘cutting the ribbon’ and refreshments.

Cllr Ralley Rahman commented “This new community hub cafe represents a unique joint development and sees bpha working at its best with its partners in Bedford.”

The Hub, hosts events, activities and services for the community.

Tim Edwards from The Bell Group, who worked in partnership with bpha to refurbish the playground said: “Hubs like this sit at the centre of a community and provide valuable support to those communities.

“With this in mind that we were honoured to work closely with bpha to provide resource and materials and donate equipment to create a welcoming space for young people and children.”

Richard Hill, bpha’s CEO said: “I’m delighted the community hub is open and to hear from residents what a great facility it will be for the community.

“Kingswell Community Hub is an excellent example of what can be achieved when councils, partners and communities come together to respond to the needs of local people.

The Kingswell Hub which services the Kingsbrook and Cauldwell area is a one-stop shop for bpha customers to access a wide range of support and advice, including free employability sessions and financial guidance on housing, council tax and benefits.

Community Engagement Officer, Pauline Stepney said: “One of bpha’s objectives is to help develop our communities, build confidence and improve the quality of life for people living in local areas. I believe this community hub ticks all those boxes.”
