Those of you who live at Upton Court in Brickhill, Bedford, will know that the lift replacement work has now started. This is the start of a year-long programme to replace the lifts in the blocks at Brickhill and will be of great benefit to our residents once completed.
With this type of work we are very aware that there can be real disruption to those people living in the properties so our Community Development team, Home Agents and Home Processing team have spent many hours visiting residents to assess their needs during this work. As well as identifying additional support needs, the team have organised an assistance service for two hours per day and temporary seating on the landing areas – for those who struggle with the stairs but want to remain in their home during the work.
Community Development Officer Jim Playle said: “A lot of pre-work has gone on to ensure the needs of our residents have been met. I hope we have shown the residents affected by the work that bpha truly care about the affect it has on their day-to-day lives.”
While we know that the lift replacement work will be disruptive, working with our residents means that we have been able to meet their needs before work starts and hope that this helps make life easier for them.
