bpha Respond

bpha Respond is an immediate response alarm service, so you can feel confident that help is on hand should you need it. If you live in a bpha Independent Living scheme in Bedford, you will automatically receive the bpha Respond service. If you don’t, we can set up the service in your home.

bpha Respond has been supporting customers for nearly 30 years. Tim has been using the service since he moved to his own home in Bedford ten years ago.

“My health condition means my mobility is very limited, so I use a wheelchair. I live on my own and enjoy my independence but the fact is, moving into and out of my wheelchair can be difficult. If my knee locks, I fall and can’t get up.

If that happens, I press the alarm and someone answers straight away – I can rely on that. It gives me security and means I don’t need to worry - I’m much happier knowing that if something happens, it will be ok.

If I didn’t have the system, I would need a phone with me all the time, but that’s not always practical and the phone signal here isn’t always reliable. I can be confident that bpha Respond will work if it I need it.”

How it works

If you have a medical emergency or need assistance, press the button on your bpha Respond pendant and you’ll be connected to a trained operator. Our operators are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Depending on the service you choose, they may contact a nominated family member or friend, send an Independent Living Housing Responder to your home, or call out the emergency services.

The set-up

The bpha Respond alarm is connected to your telephone line. A base unit plugs into your wall socket, with your telephone line plugged into the back of the alarm. Installation is included with the service: our team will set it up for you, and show you how to move the alarm, should you need to.

The cost

Basic Service: when you press the pendant, we will contact your chosen emergency contact. From £3.50 per week*

Visiting Support Service: our Independent Living Housing Responder will respond when contacted by our operator. From £5.00 per week*

Whichever service you choose, if you need an ambulance, our operator will call for one and let your emergency contacts know.

While you are connected to bpha Respond, installation, repair and maintenance are FREE. Rental of the base unit is included in your weekly cost.
