Awaab's Law: how bpha is addressing damp and mould

We take reports of damp and mould very seriously. Over the last few years, we’ve reviewed how we record these reports and who carries out treatments, plus how we raise customer awareness of the issue so you know how to tackle the issue and report it.

• Regular inspections: we conduct regular inspections of homes to identify and address any signs of damp and mould, amongst other things. This is called a stock condition survey and we aim to carry these out every five years
• Improved reporting: our Customer Communications Centre Team uses a ‘triage’ system to record a report of damp and mould. They ask very specific questions to understand the extent of the problem and make sure the right action is taken to resolve it
• Prompt repairs: our own in-house maintenance team carries out damp and mould treatment, helping ensure a consistent, effective service
• Resident support: We provide guidance and support to our residents on how to prevent damp and mould in their homes. Our operatives pass on a guide to preventing damp, mould and condensation – that information is also available on our website, alongside a video version. We cover damp, mould and condensation regularly on our social media channels and within our customer publications. And our Customer Communications Centre Team is trained to answer any queries you have about the issue and to direct you to any information that you may need about treatment or prevention.
