Healthy People, Healthy Communities Project launches

9 May 2025

bpha is delighted to have secured £10,000 from The BIG Local fund managed by Bedford and Luton Community Foundation (BLCF) to create free ‘Healthy People, Healthy Communities’ activity sessions in Kingsbrook and Cauldwell, Bedford between June and next March.

The project will enable the local community to take part in free activities aimed at boosting physical and mental health, including walking football, yoga, boxercise, dancing and art. The activities were chosen following a survey of a number of Kingsbrook and Cauldwell residents.

Residents of this area will be invited to try some of the activities on Thursday 29 May, 11am-2pm at the Jubilation Centre, Moulton Avenue, Bedford, MK42 0LH, with the option to sign up for more free sessions.  A list of activities with dates and venues will be available from 29 May and via bpha’s social media channels, along with details of how to sign up for residents who aren’t able to attend the launch event.

Rosetta Triolo, Community Engagement Manager at bpha: “We know that physical and mindful activities support our health and overall wellbeing. Not everyone has access to these activities, often due to the cost – deprived areas face multiple health inequalities. This funding helping ensure adults and young people living in these areas have the opportunity to benefit from taking part in activities alongside their friends and neighbours.”

Rae Rahman, Grants Manager BLCF:  "We are delighted to be supporting these community activities for residents as part of the Big Local Fund Kingsbrook and Cauldwell. Health and wellbeing in the community is a priority for BLCF as part of our commitment to support growing stronger communities for a healthier county, and we are excited to see how these activities co-designed with the residents will bring people together to promote wellbeing, create accessible routes into activities, and have fun."

If you’re interested in coming along on the 29 May or finding out more about the activities, please email hphc@bpha.org.uk.
