If you live in a scheme or a block of flats, you may be part of a heat network, which is a communal heating system. This means that heat is generated from a central source within your building and distributed to each home through a shared network of pipes. If you’re part of a heatnetwork, bpha is the gas supplier for your heat and hot water and is responsible for the repairs and maintenance of the communal heating system.
New regulations are being implemented throughout 2026, with a focus on consumer protection and heat network management. Ofgem is the regulator – it focuses on transparency for end users. The regulations will ensure that heat network operators are authorised, customer advocacy services are available, and technical standards are in place.
To ensure that bpha customers who are part of a heat network understand how they work, how they are billed, and how we are ensuring that bpha complies with the new regulations, we have a new web page that includes this information, plus other frequently asked questions. You can find this here.
